DMSS Setup

Video Guide

Note: In this video it is stated that you do not need to create an account on the DMSS app to add a device. As of 3/12/2025, an account is required to add a device to the app. Step 4 below can help if you need guidance through the account creation process.

Written Guide

The following steps will show you how to setup the DMSS app on your phone or mobile device for viewing your CCTV Security Pros Blue Line or Black Line recorders remotely:

Step 1. Connecting to your Network

Before you can access your recorder remotely, you must first connect it to your modem or router using an ethernet cable. If you have a Blue Line PoE system, make sure you connect using the dedicated network port that is isolated from the other ethernet ports. Our systems do not support Wi-Fi connections for remote viewing. You must use a hard-wired connection.

We also recommend enabling the setting DHCP to auto-obtain an IP address for your system. Navigate to Main Menu > Network Settings > TCP/IP on the recorder's interface. Click the "Modify" or "Edit" button to the right of NIC1. If you have multiple NIC cards, choose the one that corresponds with the port that the network is connected to (Port 1 = NIC1, Port2 = NIC2, etc.).

Click the box next to DHCP to make sure it is enabled. If it is already enabled, you may skip this step. Click "OK" and then "Apply/Save".

Step 2. Enabling P2P

We now want to make sure P2P is enabled and Online. This is what we will use to establish connection between the mobile device and the recorder. Navigate to P2P (sometimes called Easy4IP) at the bottom left. If it is not enabled already, click the box at the top to enable it. You should also see a status just below the enable box. This status will show Online, Offline, Connected, or Not Connected.

If the status shows Online or Connected, you can continue to the next step. If the status shows Offline or Not Connected, here are some things you can try to troubleshoot:

1. Make sure DHCP is enabled like in the previous step.
2. Check on the left side of the network menu for PPPoE and/or Multicast. If you have either of these settings, they must be disabled for P2P to function.
3. Double check that the ethernet cable connecting the recorder to the network is connected and functional. You can also swap this cable for another known-working cable.
4. Power the recorder off and back on. You can do this through the main menu or use the power supply switch on the back/unplug the power supply.

If you try these four steps and the status still shows Offline, there may be something with the network disrupting the P2P connection. It is best to contact your network admin or internet service provider (ISP) to figure out what could be blocking the connection.

You may want to leave this screen up since we will be using it to add the recorder in the next steps.

3. Installing DMSS

Once the status on your recorder is Online or Connected, you will want to install the app DMSS. It can be found by searching in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for free. Alternatively, you can scan or tap on the following QR codes with your phone or mobile device to bring you to the correct store for your device:

DMSS Download

iPhone/iPad

Android Phone/Tablet

4. Adding your Device to DMSS

Launch DMSS once it has been installed. Agree to the service agreement, and continue through to select your country or region. United States will show up as the recommended region at the very top. Select United States and tap "OK".

As of 3/12/2025, all new users of DMSS will need to create an account in order to add a device. Click "Sign Up" at the bottom. Type in your email address and the password you would like to set for your account in the boxes. Then, click the circle at the bottom to agree to the service agreement, and tap "Get Verification Code". You will then receive this 6-digit code to the email address you entered. Enter that verification code and it will automatically sign you in.

If the app asks to find devices on the local network, please tap "Allow". You should then see a page like below. Tap the plus sign "+" at the top right, and then "Scan QR Code".

The app will open your phone's camera, which you should allow. Use the camera to scan the QR code labeled "Device SN". Once it scans, it will show you the serial number of the device. The app will also ask if you would like to add the system locally or to an account. We recommend choosing "Local", as it makes it easier to share the system with other phones and mobile devices. Tap "Next" when finished.

Now, you will choose the type of system you have. On the left, tap "NVR/XVR". It will automatically scroll to the two options you have. Choose "NVR" if you have a Blue Line PoE recorder, or "DVR/XVR" if you have a Black Line Coax recorder.

You can now name the recorder anything that you'd like. This is just for you to identify the system. The last thing you'll need to do is enter the recorder's password into the password box. The default username is "admin", but if your username on the recorder is something else, change it in the username box as well. Tap "Save" when finished. If it tells you "Incorrect Username or Password", then you are not entering the correct username and/or password for the recorder. You may need to reset the password on the recorder itself if it has been forgotten.

You should see a green cricle with a checkmark on the next page. Tap "Done" or "Completed" to finish adding the system. It should then show your cameras' live views.
